FAQ’s
Sessions, when, where, how long?
We meet for training on Wednesday nights at 18:30, either outside the Hawthorns Centre on Southampton Common or by the View Bar at the Sports centre. Check out our Facebook & Instagram Pages for details of the latest session. Sessions last about an hour. Every Monday we have a social run from 6.30pm, meeting at the Blue Gates to the common at the Avenue end of Cemetery Road.
Do I need to be able to run?
You need to be able to run 5k without stopping to join our sessions. Speed isn’t important though, we can help you with that. The social run will typically have groups catering to various paces. You also need to be over 16 to join us. If you are completely new to running, we have annual couch to 5k programmes where all are welcome.
Do I need special kit?
All you need is a pair of running shoes and comfortable clothes. If it’s dark we also ask you to wear a head torch or other illumination for your safety. We do have club kit but you don’t need to wear it for training sessions.
How much does it cost?
Club membership costs £40 per year, including UKA affiliation. Second claim members wanting club membership alone pay just £22 per year.
Do I have to be a member to come to a session?
We are more than happy to welcome you to up to 3 free taster sessions to see what we’re all about.
